PostSubject: Resurrecting Dead Wrestling Promotions   Mon Feb 11, 2008 11:02 pm

Seems like the revival of ECW under the WWE umbrella could possibly be starting a trend of bringing dead wrestling promotions back from the grave.

First, we have XPW. Under new management/owners, 4 new/re-released XPW DVD's have been hitting the shelves since last year & shirts are being sold through XPW's new website; 4 years after the promotion died. Last year, there was talk of an XPW show being done similar to One Night Stand. Discussion disappeared. Then, this year, we get a short video implying the possibility of something happening straight from the new owners/management.

Now, we have a dead Philadelphia based promotion that could possibly be resurrected on the West Coast; 3PW. This is all from the DOI, so take it with a grain of salt:

The Latest on 3PW

The following comes from former 3PW owner/general manager, Mike Hawes. The letter is to RFVideo, written from Hawes, concerning 3PW footage. In the letter Hawes talks about bringing 3PW back :

Very quickly, I hope you know that Jasmine does not have the right to use the 3PW trademark and that her agreement is only for footage from 3PW prior to a November in 2004 and she has no permission and neither do you to use the trademark.

You might want to get her to produce some of that paperwork because we always got on fine and I wanted you on the team but all the baggage in Philly caused problems. She called Rich' asking for the trademark but she isn't getting NOTHING unless she pays what is owed and it's clearly obvious she isn't quite the high roller she likes to make out she is and she's lucky Rich didn't let me take her to the cleaners for trying to play with me and no show and stick me for the bills she didn't pay for what was then her own company.

So let me know before I talk to our copyright legal eagle monday so that I can make sure any damage is limited for RF Video. But let it be known, we will protect our investment and we will be forwarding all the relevant information to our solicitors.

I am also going to Sydney for a meeting to see exactly what's been going on there. Hope all is well and your in good health. Reason I'm letting you know this is because we aren't finished with 3PW and had lengthy discussions at doing stuff here in LA, England and Australia today and also Monday we will be having meetings. Feel free to give me a call.

Jasmin St. Claire Responds to Mike Hawes' Idea of Bringing 3PW Back; Ownership of Trademarks

From JSC:
Blah, blah, blah !! Someone fowarded me Mike's bullshit. FYI, Rich no longer speaks to him & I DO have the rights to the trademark.
This guy needs to get alife & move on & quit the pipedream!!!

She's mental mate

I was hanging with Rich all day Saturday talking about what to do with the trademark whether we sell it or I buy it outright in Santa Monica, having a smoke and a drink, and I'm going to a funeral with him and his GF tomorrow at 8am.... she's fucking lost it mate. I'm actually worried about her, all that cock in her ass must have pushed to much blood to her brain or maybe it's all the cum being dumped and it went to her brain. This is awesome. I knew she was joke but not this big a joke. At least she still reads the DOI to see if her name comes up because she sure aint got much of a career in fuck all else right now.

I tell you what mate.... why don't I just prove it during the week. Unreal.

So basically, the question is, is it really a smart idea to bring back a dead promotion? Fans may recognize the name of the brand, but there is that negative stigma surrounding XPW & 3PW. The new ownership of XPW is serious about trying to clean up the name. Yet, many people have a bad taste in their mouth from Rob Black & Lizzy Borden (no I wasn't going for a porno joke), so that could affect possible business. 3PW started having problems under JSC, which continued after ownership was transferred to Mike Hawes & Rich McDonald. And as we all know, the promotion ultimately folded.

Thoughts?

As long as none of it interferes with the existence of pwu then I'm happy.

I doubt it would with both companies seeming to now be based in California. Interpromotional matches & working relationships would be nice though. It could give PWU a chance to branch out to the West Coast; say feature 1 or 2 matches featuring the PWU guys on a show out there.
